Coffee with the Counselors is a monthly event hosted by the Seitz Behavioral Health Team. This is an opportunity for parents to meet with Behavioral Health Team members (School Counselor Haley Ramirez, Military and Family Life Counselor Jamie Guelker, Social Worker Rhea Barrett, and Irwin Army Community Hospital School-Based Clinician Keegan Stucker) in an informal setting with discussion centered around a monthly theme.
December’s meeting focused on district-wide and community-based resources for children, adults, and families. District-wide programs and supports offer services for age’s birth through high school that are educationally focused as well as before and after-school programs. There are a vast amount of resources available to children and families through the communities of Junction City, Manhattan, and Fort Riley. Resources and information were provided for food pantry’s, clothing assistance, transportation needs, mental health services, legal services, financial services, educational services, and medical assistance. There are several programs that accept donations for food and clothing that families can participate in throughout our district and communities as well. Information on Behavioral Health services through Irwin Army Community Hospital for children and families was also shared. There is a Community Information Directory available for those interested at the Dorothy Bramlage Public Library in Junction City.
The Behavioral Health Team strives to make these events as convenient and accessible as possible for busy parents by offering a morning session at 8:15 and an afternoon session at 2:30. Coffee and snacks are also provided at this kid-friendly event. Coffee with the Counselors is a great opportunity for parents to connect with the Seitz Behavioral Health Team. The next Coffee with the Counselor event will take place January 25 in the Seitz cafeteria.
